SUMMER STEAM

As the climate rises it becomes harder and harder to grow organic foods in Florida’s summer heat.   Little Growers values the importance of summer fun so during our summer garden break from June-August we arrange for our students to bond over a fun summer STEAM getaway.

Our summer STEAM camp takes our youth for a STEAM Education Experience at Florida’s own Universal Orlando. They spend a week together visiting the park and learning about how STEAM career professionals work to make the fastest roller coasters. This program is a series of independent application programs that were created to align with national education standards and can be experienced individually or together. Using the know-how behind Universal Studios top attractions like Skull Island: Reign of Kong™ and Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit™, these programs help students deepen their understanding of how Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics are integrated in our rides and attractions.

Additionally, our youth group will visit Epcot for the “Living with the Land” attraction. This one-hour tour of the fish farm and 4 greenhouses that make up The Land Pavilion is perfect for anyone with an interest in gardening or natural sciences. On it, They’ll:

  • Visit the fish farm and see what it's like during feeding time.

  • Behold gigantic fruits and vegetables and unusual crops from around the world.

  • Discover the latest plant-growing techniques, including hydroponics—look, Ma, no soil!

  • Take home a handout with some great ideas for your own garden.
